HOW TO POUR THE PERFECT PINT
“Now that’s a perfect pour!” Shouldn’t we be saying that every time a bartender puts a beer in front of us?
There’s something about being served a pint with the perfect amount of foam that makes the first sip that much more satisfying. So, is there a secret to pouring the perfect pint out of a draft beer system? These five steps will help you achieve that perfect pour more times than not!
- Clean glassware is a must! Ensure your washer fluids are up to date and glassware is being clearly properly. Before pouring a beer, use a rinser to ensure the glass is as clean as can be.
- Angle is everything!! Hold the glass at a 45-degree angle, slightly below the faucet and try to avoid contact with the faucet.
- The Pour. Grabbing the tap handle, pull it towards you quickly. Be sure to allow the beer to hit the side of the glass as it fills. Once the glass is about half way full, slowly reangle the glass to assume it’s upright position.
- Achieving 1 to 1.5 inches of head. As you are reangle the glass to its upright position, position the glass so the faucet is dispensing beer into the center of the glass. You can add distance between the faucet and the glass to increase the amount of foam.
- End the pour. This one is pretty self explanatory – simply return the tap handle to its original position once the glass is full and your desired amount of foam is achieved. From here, your perfectly poured pint of beer is ready to serve!
