DRAFT BEER SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
Draft Beer Line Cleaning
Why clean your draft beer lines regularly? We asked one our Easybar Dealers who specializes in draft beer line cleaning to share his answer with us. Nick from Cleveland Beer Line Cleaning suggests there are 3 main reasons why beer lines need to be cleaned every 2 weeks:
1. Maintain sanitation- bacteria increase significantly after 2 weeks, which can cause food borne illness in staff and customers.
2. Maintain beer quality- beer stales from oxidation and sours from bacteria. Just like at home, most people don’t keep left-overs (food) in the fridge for more than 2 weeks. It’s because of bacterial growth and oxidation. Beer, because it is free of preservatives is subject to the same damage. Beer is very nutrient-rich (protein, sugar) and bacteria love it.
3. Maintain sales- The Brewers Association has performed economic studies that indicate line cleaning does produce profits. Whereas a lack of maintenance and line cleaning does negatively impact sales over time.
If you’re in the Northeast Ohio area, we definitely recommend reaching out to Nick to schedule your next draft beer line cleaning.
